Roma è una città affascinante dove la frenesia e il caos dei turisti fanno da sottofondo alla maestosità dei monumenti, dei palazzi e delle chiese che decorano la città mai abbandonata dal clima della Dolce Vita.
E gli italiani sono famosi per la dolce vita, quell’attitudine, quello stile, quel modo di essere che il mondo ci invidia.
Eccole le cose che defiscono la “dolce vita”:
– la famiglia:
amiamo le nostre famiglie e difficilmente ci separiamo da loro e se chiedi a un italiano il modo migliore per godersi la dolce vita ti risponderà “con qualcuno che si ama”;
– la cucina:
agli italiani piace mangiare bene. Per questo motivo trascorriamo molto tempo in cucina. Il cibo è parte della nostra cultura e lo gustiamo lentamente.
Ogni momento merita amore. Per gli italiani un buon pasto non riguarda solo piatti deliziosi, ma il gusto va di pari passo con l’amore e la cucina è il luogo giusto per coinvolgere entrambi;
– la moderazione:
quello che il poeta Orazio definiva l'”aurea mediocritas” caratterizza gli italiani quando bevono. Ci piace bere un bicchiere di vino con gli amici di tanto in tanto. La cosa più importante non è bere, ma stare assieme;
– la calma:
si dice che gli italiani sono pigri e lenti, in realtà amiamo goderci la vita con calma;
– fare bella figura:
agli italiani piace dare una buona impressione ovunque essi vadano. Si potrebbe chiamare mettersi in mostra questo loro modo di fare, noi lo chiamiamo solo “fare bella figura”!
Questo è quello che siamo, e lo facciamo senza sforzo.
Dimenticavo… gli italiani vestono per impressionare, e lo stile parla di noi, ma è fondamentale indossare i nostri abiti con quell’allure casual assolutamente non studiata.
Nella mia passeggiata romana, in una delle più belle piazze della città, circondata da monumentali palazzi che sigillano i secoli e ritmano lo sguardo delle Ninfe, intente a domare i mostri marini nella Fontana delle Naiadi, e dalle spettacolari Terme dono dell’imperatore Diocleziano che si fondono nella magnifica Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli di Michelangiolesca concezione, io ci ho provato così: un maglioncino comodo e caldo su un paio di jeans vissuti, mentre gli accessori, un paio di stivaletti in velluto ricamati e una clutch laminata, fanno la differenza, con naturale eleganza.

Rome is a fascinating city, where the frenzy, the chaos of the tourists are the background to the majesty of the monuments, palaces, and churches that decorate the city never abandoned by the climate of  “dolce vita”.  
Italians are famous for their “dolce vita”, the particular attitude, the lifestyle that characterizes the people of Italy, a way of being that the rest of the world would like to have.
I have been giving some thought to this and here are the things that define “la dolce vita”:
– the family:
we love our families and we hardly part with them;
Ask any Italian: the best way to enjoy la dolce vita is with someone you treasure, be it family, friends or a soulmate.
– the food:
Italians like eating well. For this reason, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Food is part of our culture, and we taste it slowly.
Every moment deserves “amore” , for Italians, a good meal is not solely about delectable dishes. Flavor goes hand in hand with “amore” and creating the right setting to indulge in both.
– the moderation:
what poet Horatio called “aurea mediocritas”, the “golden mean”, characterizes Italians when they drink. We like drinking a glass of wine with our friends every now and then. The important thing is not drinking, but being together;
–  the calm:
Italians are said to be lazy and slow, in fact, we love enjoying our life slowly;
– embrace “la bella figura”:
Italians like to create a good impression wherever they go. You might call it showing off, we call it “la bella figura”!
That is who we are, and we do it effortlessly.

I forgot… Italians dress to impress, and style is more than just looking the part, you must worn your clothes with an air of unstudied.
In my Roman walk, around one of the most beautiful squares of the city, surrounded by monumental buildings that seal the centuries and punctuate the look of the Nymphs, intent on taming the sea monsters in the Fountain of the Naiads, and from the impressive Spa gift from the Emperor Diocletian that blends into the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, I played well the Italian style: a comfy and warm sweater with distressed jeans, and the accessories, a pair of embroidered velvet boots and a metallic clutch, make the difference with effortless elegance.
