The Dori founded the city in 387 BC And stopped in this place for the possibilities that the natural harbor offered: a shelter from the sea on a coastline with a characteristic elbow shape.
Located in the heart of the city, today the harbor has reached the top spot in Italy for international passenger and cargo traffic. 
The Doric Gate keeps all its mysterious charm intact, it is the magical place that testifies to the history of the city.
