Costruita sui i resti di una basilica paleocristiana, tra il porto e il centro storico della città, la Chiesa di Santa Maria della Piazza di Ancona risale, probabilmente, al XI secolo.

È un notevole esempio di stile romanico.
Opera di Filippo Lombardo, la splendida facciata tripartita risale al 1210.
È rivestita in marmo dalmatico a più ordini di piccoli archi e vi compare il marchio di corporazione medievale di scultori e scalpellini, “Les Enfants de Salomon”, legata all’Ordine dei Templari.
L’elegante facciata è impreziosita da un ricchissimo portale, ad arco strombato e adornato da fregi, con lesene laterali.
Oggi la chiesa è sede di concerti di musica sacra e classica, grazie alla perfetta acustica interna.
Il mio outfit è un’interpretazione del military-chic style: una camicia con mostrine, resa più femminile dal l’abbinamento con una gonna plissé in pizzo, mentre ammiro incantata l’antica veste romanica di questo autentico gioiello.

The Church of Santa Maria della Piazza in Ancona is a typical example of a Romanesque church.
It was erected between the 11th and the 12th centuries. Before its construction, the site was home to two small Palaeo-Christian churches, dating to the 6th and 7th centuries, as evidenced by the remains that are found in the underground area of the church and which are visible through guided tours at certain times of the year. Among these remains, there are two levels of mosaics, in addition to a well, some frescoes and a small section of ancient walls.
The Church has got a tripartite structure faςade, yet unfinished in its upper side. 
On the contrary, its lower side shows an elegant Dalmatian marble cover – made by Master Filippo (1210 – 1215) – finished by a series of small stone made arches having decorative pieces. 
The entrance has a solemn portal decorated round the edge by a frieze exalting its beauty and width. 
Today the church is home to concerts of classical and sacred music thanks to the perfect inner acoustics.
My outfit is an interpretation of the military-chic style: a shirt with military dog tags, made more feminine by the combination with a lace pleated skirt, while I admire the ancient Romanesque guise of this authentic jewel.
