Il Monumento ai Caduti della Prima Guerra Mondiale, comunemente conosciuto come il Monumento del Passetto, si trova in piazza IV Novembre ad Ancona, nella omonima zona del Passetto proprio al termine del viale alberato che collega questo quartiere con il centro storico della città.
Fu realizzato dall’architetto anconitano Guido Cirilli tra il 1927 e il 1930, ma venne ufficialmente inaugurato il 3 novembre 1932 da Mussolini in visita ad Ancona per il Decennale della Rivoluzione Fascista.
Il sacrario, a pianta circolare, innalzato su un alto basamento, è in onore dei caduti della Prima Guerra Mondiale durante la quale Ancona subì numerose perdite non solo dei soldati impegnati al fronte, ma anche per il bombardamento della città nel 1915 ad opera della flotta austro-ungarica.
La struttura, sostenuta da otto colonne doriche, bianca e imponente, è realizzata interamente in pietra d’Istria, come il belvedere e la scalinata circolare concentrica di discesa al mare e racchiude una grande ara.
Nel fastigio sono riportati i versi del grande poeta italiano nato a  Recanati, a pochi chilometri da Ancona, Giacomo Leopardi:

“Beatissimi voi,
 Ch’offriste il petto alle nemiche lance
 Per amor di costei ch’al Sol vi diede“

(All’Italia, dai Canti di Giacomo Leopardi; vv. 84-86)

Sito in uno dei punti più suggestivi della città, l’opera, segno di equilibrio ed eleganza, si pone come chiusura scenografica del Viale della Vittoria. L’architetto diede una nitida e colta interpretazione dell’ordine dorico classico, dalle perfette proporzioni esaltate dalla pietra d’Istria.
La struttura, con le sue scalinate, vista dal mare sembra raffigurare un’aquila in volo, con le rampe che simboleggiano le ali aperte, ed il monumento che funge da testa.
Indosso un look dai flash caldi e dorati che conferiscono all’outfit quell’effetto un pò donna del futuro, con tessuti e materiali che regalano iridescenza all’intero ensemble, irrinunciabili per la stagione calda, mentre mi affaccio dall’alto delle “pietre della memoria” per godere di un panorama che è qualcosa di straordinario.

The War Memorial commonly known as the Passetto Monument is located in Piazza IV Novembre, in the Passetto neighborhood. Heading east from the city center is Viale della Vittoria, a long boulevard lined with trees that cuts through the entire city and ends with this giant monument on top of a pedestal. 
The Monument was designed by the architect Guido Cirilli from Ancona between 1927 and 1930, then officially opened on 3 November 1932 by Mussolini while he was visiting Ancona for the 10th anniversary of the Fascist Revolution. 
The shrine has a circular plan and is raised on a high basement. It was dedicated to the victims of the First World War when Ancona suffered many casualties, both military and civilians, caused by the Austro-Hungarian bombing in 1915.
The structure, based on eight Doric columns, is made of white Istrian stone, same as the panoramic point and the staircase descending towards the sea. At the center of the monument is a large altar. 
The frieze is carved with the lines of the poem “All’Italia” by The Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi:
 “Beatissimi voi,  
Ch’offriste il petto alle nemiche lance
Per amor di costei ch’al Sol vi diede“
“You, most blessed of all,  
who each offered yourself to the enemy lance,
for the love of her who gave you to the light”
Located in a panoramic spot, the Memorial stands as a dramatic background to Viale della Vittoria with its balance and elegance. The architect gave a clear yet cultured interpretation of the classic Doric order, with perfect proportions enhanced by Istrian stone. The entire structure, memorial, and staircase, when seen from the seashore, look like a flying eagle. The two flight of stairs symbolize spread wings of the eagle, while the monument is its head.
I’m wearing an outfit with warm and golden flashes that give a sparkling effect and iridescence to the whole ensemble, with shining fabrics and materials, the trendiest of this season, while I look out from the top of the “stones of the Memory “to enjoy an extraordinary panorama.
