L’Albertina Museum è il più grande palazzo residenziale asburgico e
troneggia sulle mura di uno degli ultimi bastioni di difesa di Vienna all’estemità
sud della Hofburg. Prende il nome dal
duca Alberto di Sassonia Teschen, che nel 1776 diede inizio alla
collezione di opere d’arte.
Questo Museo, il più visitato di Vienna è uno dei più importanti del
mondo, è una tappa obbligata che unisce fascino imperiale e rinomati capolavori di arte
figurativa.
Possiede, infatti, una delle collezioni di grafica più estese e più
preziose del mondo con opere come “La giovane lepre” di Dürer e gli
studi di donna di Klimt. Inoltre, la nuova collezione esposta presenta
capolavori dell’epoca moderna che spaziano da Monet a Picasso a Cézanne e Manet, ma anche a Baselitz e Andy Warhol: un percorso straordinario tra più di 1 milione di opere incise e serigrafie e 60.000
disegni e acquarelli, testimonianze
artistiche che vanno dal tardo gotico al presente. 
Fanno parte dell’Albertina anche una collezione di
architettura ed una collezione di fotografie dei maestri contemporanei,
come Helmut Newton e Lisette Model.
L’edificio comprende 21 sale di rappresentanza interamente restaurate ed arredate con
mobili d’epoca, che ricordano lo splendore della cultura residenziale dell’epoca asburgica, in uno dei palazzi classicistici
più belli d’Europa.
Sono nello splendido giardino pubblico della Hofburg, mentre il cielo diventa sempre più bianco e comincia a nevicare. Mi avvolgo nella mia cappa calda come una coperta… non posso rinunciare ad ammirare cotanto splendore.

The
Albertina Museum is the largest Hapsburg residential palace on
the walls of one of the last bastions of defense of the southern tip of
the Vienna Hofburg. It named after the Duke Albert of Saxe Teschen, who in 1776 began the collection of art works.
This Museum, the most visited of Vienna, is one of the most important
in the world, is a must that combines imperial flair and renowned
masterpieces of figurative art.
It
has, in fact, one of the most extensive and most valuable graphical
collections in the world with works such as “The Hare” of Dürer and
Klimt’s studies of women. In
addition, the new collection on display presents masterpieces from Monet to Picasso and Cézanne and Manet, but also of
Baselitz and Andy Warhol: an extraordinary journey among more than 1
million graphic art works and 60,000 drawings and
watercolors, ranging from the late Gothic era to the present.
Also belong the Albertina a collection of architecture and a collection
of photographs of contemporary masters, such as Helmut Newton and
Lisette Model.
The building includes 21 rooms of representation completely restored
and furnished with antique furniture, reminiscent of the splendor of the
Habsburg era residential culture, in one of the most beautiful
classicist palaces of Europe.
I’m walking in the beautiful public garden of the Hofburg, while the sky becomes more and more white and it begins to snow. I wrap myself in my hot cape as a blanket… I can not give up admiring so much splendor.
