Su un tratto della bellissima costa adriatica,
sorge in tutto il suo splendore, Roca, un’antica cittadina, la perla più affascinante delle Marine di Melendugno. 
Lo scenario costiero su cui emerge il suggestivo borgo, è
prevalentemente roccioso e la scogliera raggiunge il punto più
caratteristico, nell’insenatura naturale, un promontorio triangolare che ospita  oggi un’importante area archeologica.
La bellezza “paradisiaca” di questi luoghi doveva essere apprezzata fin dai
tempi antichi,  nel borgo sul mare si sono succeduti, infatti, insediamenti a partire dalla città messapica del IV secolo, di cui si riconoscono le mura ciclopiche a picco sul mare, mentre risalgono al periodo romano le strutture del porto e i murenari, vasche in cui si conservavano i pesci vivi, soprattutto murene.
I resti più imponenti, invece, sono quelli della torre di guardia, costruita nel 1568, che faceva parte del sistema difensivo costiero. 
La torre difensiva è il simbolo di un’epoca in cui Roca era un importante crocevia
culturale e commerciale. Oggi è possibile raggiungerla solo a nuoto,  su un isolotto attiguo alla costa,
immergendosi in uno dei luoghi più romantici di tutto il Salento.
La bellezza naturale si somma al fascino della storia di questo luogo incantato, immerso in un’atmosfera defilata e misteriosa. In un’ambientazione marina più unica che rara, favorevole all’archeo-snorkeling di perlustrazione.
Indosso solo un lungo abito, con scollo “Bardot” e stampa azteca, abbellito da nappine colorate, trovato su Shein, il sito sempre updated sulle tendenze moda più cool.
Passeggio scalza sulla scogliera, alla scoperta di un angolo di paradiso, un luogo incontaminato, meta imperdibile del mio soggiorno in questa estrema landa orientale, mentre immagino Roca come la fiorente città messapica che è stata nel corso degli anni.

di corda in vece / sta d’un lungo macigno un dorso avanti, / ove spumoso il mar
percuote e frange. / Ne’ suoi corni ha due scogli, anzi due torri, / che con
due braccia il mar dentro accogliendo, / lo fa porto e l’asconde; e sovra al
porto / lunge dal lito è ‘l tempio. »

Roca Vecchia is a small fishing village, it was once a thriving Messapican city and archaeological excavations can be seen.
Roca is located near the town of Melendugno on the Adriatic coast of Puglia. It takes its name from its tower located on the coast, is a beautiful coastal town already inhabited in ancient times. There are here, in fact, traces of the populations of the Bronze Age, as well as of later periods, from the Messapi to the Romans and to the Greeks. 
The coastline consists of small inlets with crystal clear waters.
All the area adjacent to the coast is characterized by the presence of archaeological remains, hypogea, crypts and towers of various ages from the Bronze Age.
Submarine archeology is also of great interest: on the seabed it is possible to recognize archaeological remains from the third and second centuries BC, the remains of the Greek and Roman civilizations and traces of Turkish and Saracen civilizations.
Overlooking the sea, like a sentinel, appears the coastal tower, the symbol of an era in which Roca was an important cultural and commercial crossroads. Today
it is possible to reach it only by swimming, on a small island near the
coast, diving into one of the most romantic places in Salento.
Natural
beauty adds to the fascination of the history of this enchanting place,
surrounded by a mysterious atmosphere. In a unique, unusual marine environment that is conducive to archaeological-snorkeling.
I’m

Walking
on the cliff, discovering a corner of paradise, a pristine place, a
must for my stay in this extreme eastern land, while I imagine Roca as the
thriving Messapic city that has been over the years.
