Arroccato sul colle che domina un piccolo borgo nella verde Irpinia e sovrasta la valle del fiume Sabato, un maestoso complesso architettonico di epoca longobarda: il Castello di San Barbato, edificato intorno al VII-VIII secolo dai Longobardi qui insediatisi.
La struttura si erge imponente e si articola in un basso edificio quadrangolare, con torri angolari poste ai vertici del corpo di fabbrica centrale.
Il castello presenta una particolarità rispetto ad altre strutture analoghe: le due torri sul lato meridionale sono di forma circolare e scarpate mentre le altre due, poste sul lato settentrionale, hanno una forma planimetrica a punta.
Una splendida scala monumentale conduce all’entrata, un portale ad arco a tutto sesto.
E sul punto più alto del colle mi soffermo per godere del meraviglioso paesaggio e dei suoi splendidi colori autunnali. L’aria è ancora tiepida e indosso un blouse in pizzo color rubino, perchè il pizzo è sempre la risposta giusta, prezioso e affascinante, femminile e misterioso, seducente ed intrigante, romantico ed elegante, un must-have anche per questo AI 2017-2018.

San Barbato Castle is set on the top of the hill in the lush Irpinia. It is located at an altitude of 450 meters from which vantage point it was possible to keep watch over the entire valley of the River Sabato.
The fortress was built by the Lombards in 849. The first mention of it appeared in a historical document in 1146, its lord was a certain Malfrido de Sancto Barbato.
The Castle was transformed into a noble residence in the 16th century.
The impressive building has a quadrangular layout with two round towers and two square towers located on the corners.
A stunning monumental staircase leads to the entrance with a rounded arch portal.
And on the top of this lovely hill, I stop to enjoy the wonderful landscape and its beautiful autumn colors. The air is still warm and I’m wearing a burgundy lace blouse because lace is always the right choice, precious and fascinating, feminine and mysterious, seductive and intriguing, romantic and elegant, a must-have also for the FW 2017-2018.
