Queste foto sono state scattate a fine febbraio, quando ero convinta che il 2020 sarebbe stato un anno meraviglioso.
Oggi sono ovviamente a casa, ma la mia mente è ancora lì in Marocco…
Me back in February, when I thought 2020 was going to be the best.
I’m obviously stuck at home but my mind is still in Morocco…
The El Badi palace, literally “palace of the incomparable” is an architectural ensemble built at the end of the sixteenth century and located in Marrakech.
A former palace, it was built by the Saadian Sultan Ahmed al-Mansour Dhahbi to celebrate the victory over the Portuguese army, in 1578, in the battle of the Three Kings.
During Al Mansour’s reign, Badia was the most impressive palace in the western reaches of the Muslim world – now only Badia’s vast courtyard, with its four sunken gardens and reflecting pools, give a hint of its former majesty.
While El Badi Palace is but a mere shadow of its former glory, it continues to be one of the most popular Marrakech Tourist Attractions.
It is a wonderful choice if you feel you need a bit of a break after visiting some of Marrakech’s bustling attractions, such as the medina and Jemaa el-Fnaa for example.
Today, there remains only a huge esplanade carved gardens, planted with orange trees and surrounded by high walls.
It is said that “The Incomparable” was a palace with over 360 rooms decorated in gold, turquoise, crystal, cedarwood, onyx, and Italian marble. Opulent rooms, a sprawling courtyard, an enormous central pool, dungeons, and several luxurious summer pavilions which are thought to have been used as summer houses.
El Badi Palace was by all accounts, a vast display of the finest craftsmanship ever seen during this period of Morocco’s history.
If you enjoyed visiting the Roman Forum in Rome or dream of going to the Acropolis in Athens, you’ll enjoy El Badi Palace.

Today it is also one of the “favorite” places for storks that nest in Marrakech, perched on the roofs of the palace.
I leave you with the pictures, trying to stay positive in a spooky situation… sending you all lots of love right now! #stayhome

360 rooms? Awesome! I hope that all this will end soon and we will be able to enjoy life again.
What a beautiful place ! Great post and pictures!

Can't even imagine how incredible this place must have looked in it's better days, still a breath taking building today! Can't wait for all of this to blow off and go somewhere, maybe I'll make it to Morocco as well, or the travel photos you shared from there certainly inspired me big time.
