La città di Korčula sorge sull’estremità nordorientale dell’omonima isola, accanto alla frastagliata linea costiera. 
Da sempre è considerata una delle migliori mete estive di tutta la Croazia: la combinazione fra il gradevole clima mediterraneo ed il perfetto scenario naturale creato dai pini marittimi, vigneti e spiagge vergini, e la sua ricca eredità storica e culturale, fanno di Korčula la destinazione ideale per le vacanze estive.
Il centro si compone della Cittavecchia, che si sviluppa sopra una penisoletta a forma ovale e di un sobborgo barocco, che sorge immediatamente sotto le antiche mura di cinta.
La città ha una storia antica la cui eredità è ben visibile nei suoi palazzi, nelle sue torri medievali e nelle bellissime chiese.
L’architettura del centro storico, principalmente influenzata dal Rinascimento veneziano, conquista con la sua perfetta armonia.  
Il magnifico esploratore del mondo Marco Polo è nato a Korčula e la sua casa si trova ancora sull’isola.
Ho attraversato la torre Veliki Revelin e sono entrata nell’atmosfera irresistibile della vecchi città, mi sono persa tra le pittoresche stradine del centro storico di questa città-fortezza, che si sviluppano come una lisca di pesce, indossando un lungo abito nero, con quell’irrestibile allure chic e femminile degli inserti in pizzo, fresco e leggero, per questo settembre ancora bollente.

The city of Korcula lies beside the sea on the north-east end of the island Korcula. It is a medieval walled city positioned on an oval-shaped swelling of land pointing deep into Peljesac Channel.
The city itself is grooved with a succession of narrow streets that branch off the spine of the main street like the fish bone.
The architecture of the Old Town is mainly influenced by the Venetian Renaissance. The magnificent world traveler and explorer Marco Polo was born in Korčula and his home still stands on the island.
Korčula town enjoys a reputation as an area of ancient beauty.
Abound with rustic charm, the medieval settlement of Korčula town has a year-round appeal, with its palm-lined streets and ancient surrounding walls, and its Mediterranean lifestyle. There are other numerous historical monuments which are evidence of the interesting history of the city.
See the old city center and its ancient buildings and narrow streets, the cathedral of St. Mark, home of Marco Polo, nine churches in the center of the old town, walls which surround the whole island, sea gate, land gate, and other interesting sites.
Climb the houses’ tower for a panoramic view of the town.
I lost myself among the picturesque streets, living the irresistible atmosphere of the old town, wearing a maxi dress, with that irrestibile chic and feminine allure of the lace inserts, fresh and light, perfect for this September still very hot.
