E’ impossibile capire Bari senza avere provato l’incanto di vivere anche brevemente N-derr a la’lanz. 
N-dèrr’a la lanz
è uno dei luoghi più caratteristici della baresità, il porto vecchio della città, situato sull’ansa formata dal molo San Nicola, su cui dominano il teatro Margherita e il Circolo Canottieri Barion.
Il posto
letteralmente significa “a terra la lancia”, perchè le tipiche barche in legno, i gozzi, in dialetto si chiamano “lanz” e i pescatori arrivano qui, le attraccano e scaricano a terra il pesce da vendere e, chi lo compra dice di averlo aquistato ai piedi delle barche.
E’ il luogo più commovente della città, un tempio all’aperto della gastronomia, capace di creare entusiasmo per
il piccolo mondo antico che rappresenta, fatto della semplicità dei veri
pescatori che ti servono del prelibato pescato da consumare crudo sul posto. 
Già!… I frutti di mare crudi dei baresi, ricci, cozze, gamberi, polpi e alici, delizia del palato, una delle grandi tradizioni della città: un sushi ante litteram che si consuma in questo caratteristico mercato da tempo immemore, prima di tutte le mode e di tutte le tendenze. 
Una romantica gonna in tulle, sdrammatizzata da una semplice t-shirt e un paio di sneakers, per una visita al mercato ittico, uno di quei luoghi caratteristici, carico di umanità, dove ritrovare tradizioni e abitudini di un tempo. Una passeggiata tra l’odore del pesce e quello della birra, tra il rumore del polpo sbattuto e arricciato, i cui tentacoli di sublime croccantezza ad ogni morso rilasciano l’emozione del mare, da gustare direttamente qui: nel vero simbolo culturale di Bari, il suo luogo più magico, commovente, appagante, identitario, pur nella sua estrema semplicità.
Mentre osservo il profilo
della costa bagnata dal mare e, sullo sfondo, il bellissimo
skyline del capoluogo pugliese.

Take a stroll along the marvelous seafront of Bari is an experience that every tourist should do.
St. Nicholas wharf is the jewel in the crown of this location.
There you can admire boats coming and going and the ritual of “polpo arricciato”, the method of curling octopus, made by fishermen.
Here is located, indeed, the fish and shellfish market “N-derr a la’lanz”, where a storm of colors and smells assaults you, and many of the facial gestures that are typical of Bari’s natives.
The market provides a wonderful opportunity to get to know the city’s inhabitants up close.
Here, amid Bari life, you also find fresh seafood to consume raw on the spot:  a true delight of the palate, one of the great traditions of the city.
N-dèrr là lanz, in the old port of the city, is home of local fishermen, a place with a disarming genuineness that translates into a pure charm.
A unique place in the world that is worth the trip.
It is impossible to understand Bari without having experienced the charm of living N-derr a la’lanz.
