Sono nell’incantevole capoluogo pugliese. 
Bari, a partire dagli anni ’90, è stata restaurata e gode oggi di una suggestiva atmosfera che la portano nel firmamento delle città da non perdere. 
A nord della città si estende Bari Vecchia, il centro storico che occupa una piccola penisola compresa tra il Porto Vecchio e il Porto Grande.
La città antica è caratterizzata da un impianto urbanistico tipicamente medievale  dove sfilano, uno dopo l’altro, interessanti monumenti romanici.
E’ qui che si sviluppa il dedalo di viuzze bianche all’interno delle antiche mura, su cui affacciano sontuosi edifici e imponenti castelli che ne raccontano la storia e l’anima. Quella delle famiglie che hanno fatto grande la città fin dall’epoca delle crociate. Fortezze, chiese e palazzi nobiliari, lungo i vicoli stretti, tra profumi e scorci di inaudita bellezza.
Ecco cosa rende speciale il centro storico della capitale pugliese: qui si passeggia letteralmente nella storia.
Indosso un leggero abito plissè, mentre la calda brezza di questi ultimi giorni d’estate mi accompagna lungo i vicoli della Old Town e mi soffermo ad ammirare la Cattedrale di San Sabino, la chiesa dai mille volti e cuore pulsante di Bari Vecchia.
La storica sede episcopale dalle sue linee architettoniche severe e armoniose.
Eretta nel XIII secolo, è uno straordinario esempio di romanico pugliese.

Bari is a large coastal city, n the Adriatic coast, with a thriving port and both a historic and a modern center.
It is the capital of the Puglia region of Southern Italy.
It has an attractive old town known as the Bari Vecchia.
This area has been built on for millennia, but most of the archaeology is buried under the cluster of narrow lanes which make up Bari Vecchia.
This is a maze of streets with various historic monuments and plenty of lively bars and restaurants.
The old town is fairly small and all its main sights are easily accessible.
The two main sights are the Basilica di San Nicola and Bari’s cathedral – the Cattedrale di San Sabino.
San Sabino was constructed in 1292 and is an important example of Romanesque architecture.
The front façade of the church features a similar design and is made of white stone and has several sculptures and ornate windows.
Inside there is a myriad of white stone and marble designs, and also an elaborately decorated crypt.
The old town of Bari provides a fantastic display of historical architecture, important buildings, and enough sights to merit an interesting exploration.
