Città sorprendente e fascinosa, ricca di opere d’arte, la capitale della Romania è un grande libro di storia a cielo aperto, oggi tra i simboli della nuova Europa. 

La “Parigi dei Balcani”, con i suoi edifici dall’allure francese, le piazze antiche, i boulervard alberati, gli archi di trionfo e le locande da gourmand. 

Visitare Bucarest riserva sempre delle sorprese. È una città in continuo cambiamento. Una città che offre al visitatore molte occasioni di incontri con la storia. Le sue strade e piazze restituiscono una stratificazione di epoche e stili, qui si mescolano il neoclassico e il neogotico con influenze liberty e bauhaus, specchio delle trasformazioni e dei  momenti storici drammatici vissuti dalla città e dal paese. 

Tra i molteplici monumenti di Bucarest, uno dei principali e foriero di rara bellezza estetica ed architettonica è la Chiesa Kretzulescu, che risalta nel suo stile “autoctono” del neo Brancovenesc, dalle linee architettoniche pulite e arrotondate. E’ una splendida chiesa ortodossa, nel centro storico della città, in Calea Victoriei. Fu edificata intorno al 1720-1722 su ordine e volontà di Iordache Kretzulescu e della consorte Safta, figlia del principe Constantin Bracoveanu.

La biserică si contraddistingue per l’armonica snellezza del campanile che la affianca, caratterizzato da finestre anguste e alte e dalla loggia adiacente alla parte precipua della struttura. Un’altra peculiarità accattivante e suggestiva della chiesa riguarda il rosso dei mattoni a vista che rivestono la facciata. I dipinti esterni dell’edificio sono opere originali che contribuiscono ad impreziosirne la bellezza.
Indosso solo un caldo e avvolgente maglione, quasi una coperta, su una lunga gonna in tulle stampa floreale, di grande tendenza per questo inverno 2018, mentre mi soffermo a visitare la Chiesa Kretzulescu di Bucarest che, ancora oggi, rappresenta uno dei luoghi di culto più ammirati dai turisti e più amati dagli abitanti della città.

Known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards, glorious Belle Époque buildings and a reputation for the high life, which in the 1900s earned its nickname of “Little Paris”, Bucharest, Romania’s largest city and capital, is today a bustling metropolis.
The Romanian capital continues to redefine itself, merging its storied history with a modern identity.
At first glance, the architecture is dizzying, but it’s a fascinating mix. 
Among the many monuments of Bucharest, one of the main and harbinger of rare aesthetic and architectural beauty is the Kretzulescu Church. 
This beautiful church is located on the Northern edge of the Royal Palace, on Calea Victoriei.  
The church was built by order of Iordache Kretzulescu and of his wife, Safta, daughter of Constantin Brâncoveanu himself, Iordache Kretzulescu filling the position of chancellor at the time.
It is one of the best preserved and most representative orthodox places of worship in Bucharest, a great example of  the Brancovenesc style. 
The church stands out by the slenderness of its bell tower decorated with narrow tall windows and by the loggia which borders the main body of the edifice. Another particular feature refers to the somewhat reddish color of the church owed to the bricks. Most of the outside paintings are original works, which enhances the historical value of the edifice. 
I’m wearing only a warm and enveloping sweater, almost a blanket, on a long floral print tulle skirt, the trendiest pattern of this winter 2018, while I stop to visit the Kretzulescu Church in Bucharest which, even today, is one of the places of worship more admired by tourists and more loved by the inhabitants of the city.
