Il Palazzo della Cultura e
della Scienza si erge imponente al centro della città di Varsavia, con i suoi 234
metri di altezza e i suoi 42 piani.
Si dice che per poter passare almeno una giornata intera in
ognuna delle 3288 stanze del Palazzo dovremmo visitarlo per almeno 9 anni
consecutivamente.
L’ideatore fu Joseph Stalin in persona e autore del progetto l’architetto sovietico Lev Rudniev che, per
poter realizzare al meglio il “dono del popolo sovietico alla nazione”, preservando
l’estetica tipicamente polacca, prima di presentare
il suo progetto compiuto, visitò tante città polacche per poter
osservare l’architettura storica della Polonia. Così, in tempi rapidissimi, tra il 1952 e il 1955, creò il più alto
edificio della Polonia che stilisticamente è un ibrido dello
stile art déco, del realismo socialista e dello storicismo polacco.
Nel
1956 fu installato sulla torre un enorme orologio, il più alto del mondo, le cui lancette sono lunghe 6 metri in modo che possa essere visto anche da molto lontano.
Oggi il Palazzo della Cultura e delle
Scienze è sede di numerose istituzioni ufficiali, come per esempio
l’Accademia delle Scienze polacca, di due università private e del Teatro
Drammatico. Inoltre, ospita un ufficio postale, un cinema multisala, una piscina, musei e biblioteche.
Esso rappresenta, senza alcun dubbio, una delle maggiori strutture congressuali di Varsavia. Nelle
sue sale può ospitare comodamente oltre 4500 partecipanti.
Mi piace
l’architettura di questo edificio, soprattutto circondato dai moderni
grattacieli degli hotel e degli uffici nelle vicinanze.
Nel mio OOTD domina il rosso, il colore di stagione, la tonalità strong e luminosa capace di rendere di colpo tutto più intenso e nitido e di generare un’energia immensa, come quella sprigionata dall’imponenza di questo Palazzo, simbolo della egemonia russa.

The Palace of Culture and Science is a skyscraper 234 meters tall, the highest building in Poland.
It was built between 1952 and 1955, as a “gift of the Soviet people to the Polish nation”, offered by Joseph Stalin himself. 
The architect was Lew Rudniew, the palace takes its inspiration from the capitalist world but was specifically designed to include influences from all of Poland’s architectural styles. 
The Palace, which is 42 floors, with an area of 817,000 m2, has over 3,000 rooms, including offices, institution headquarters, two private universities and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Moreover, the Palace has a post office, cinema, swimming pool, museums, libraries, and theaters.
It is one of the largest conference facilities in Warsaw, comfortably accommodating more than 4,500 participants at a time, at dozens of meetings and training conferences annually.
The Palace of Culture and Science has the highest Tower Clock in the world, the clock hands are 6 meters long so that the clock can still be seen from further away.
I like the architecture of this building, especially surrounded by the modern skyscrapers of the hotels and office blocks nearby.

dominates the red, the color of the season, the strong and luminous shade able to suddenly make everything more intense and clear and to
generate an immense energy, like the one emitted from the grandeur of
this Palace, symbol of the Russian hegemony.
