Good morning from a sun-drenched Buckingham Palace!
Buckingham Palace is an office for the Head of State, as well as a home for The Queen.
It is one of the world’s few remaining working royal palaces.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of the UK’s sovereigns since 1837 and today is the administrative headquarters of the Monarch. Although in use for the many official events and receptions held by The Queen, the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every summer.
Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. In measurements, the building is 108 meters long across the front, 120 meters deep and 24 meters high.
The State Rooms are a suite of lavishly decorated public rooms in Buckingham Palace where the monarch receives, rewards and entertains her subjects and visiting dignitaries.
Today, after many years of free market-administered economic and cultural shock therapy, Britain is greatly changed, but Elizabeth II is still there, wearing her tweeds, strangulating her vowels.

The garden at Buckingham Palace is a 39-acre walled oasis in the middle of the city and its largest private garden. Called the Queen’s garden, it is where Queen Elizabeth II holds her summer garden parties. The central feature of the garden is a 3-acre lake created in the 19th century. Timing and a little bit of luck are needed to see this garden. It is only open for tours during August and September and then only when the queen is not in residence. Tours are limited to 25 visitors.
Changing the Guard is the iconic world-famous ceremony which is seen by millions of people each year at Buckingham Palace
It is a definite must-see for any London traveler interested by the pageantry linked with Buckingham Palace and the British Monarchy.
Carried out by soldiers on active duty from the Foot Guards who have guarded the Sovereign and the Royal Palaces since 1660, wearing their famous bearskin hats and red tunics.
Accompanied by a full military band playing a selection of music ranging from traditional marches to songs from musicals and familiar pop songs, the ceremony is both a colorful military tradition and an important reminder of the close relationship between the Armed Forces and their Head: The Queen.

And the story is still going on… God save the Queen!
And for this journey to discover more about the British Monarchy, I opted for an ultra violet outfit, a praise to the most regal and mysterious color, so elegant and refined, sometimes a little snob… just like English people.
