Diocletian’s summer residence,
the set of intrigues love stories of Game of Thrones,
the soccer team revelation of the 2018 World Cup…
… no matter how you decide to call it, Croatia is the top destination this summer.
My tour starts from the south of the country, along with the Dalmatian coast, to discover Dubrovnik, a city which captures with its elegant beauty and warmly welcomes, offering a rich natural patrimony and an enviable historical – cultural heritage.

The Old Town Harbour is a beautiful medieval port, it is well known as a part of the 15th-century fortification and once acted as a hub for Dubrovnik’s trading fleet from all over the world.
Today, the harbor is mostly used mostly by local fishermen and as a dock for charming replicas of the argosies and galleons.
The most dominant part of the Harbour is the fort of St John which once served as a guardian against pirates and other enemy ships, and is now home to the Maritime Museum.

The fort is the first quadrangular pier tower built in 1346 in order to protect the city harbor.
Amidst the Old Port, there is a building with three symmetrical vaults, that is the old Arsenal, a place where the state galleons were built repaired and stored when not on their voyages, in the time of the Dubrovnik Republic. Today Arsenal is arranged as a restaurant.
The paved square used to be a big open-air fish market.
At the foot of St. John fort is a massive pier with a lighthouse locally known as Porporela.

A favorite place for lovers, a beautiful promenade in the sunset and a bathing place for locals.
I’m wearing a fresh and lively dress in yellow chiffon, like the intense color of the Dubrovnik sun which, together with the endless blue of the sea, inebriates and you don’t want want to go away.
